Miami officer injured in crash

Crash followed pursuit of Nissan Maxima

MIAMI – A Miami police officer was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital after pursuit-related crash Friday afternoon.

The crash happened at Northwest 12th Avenue and 29th Street.

According to investigators, police were in pursuit of a silver Nissan Maxima near NE 1st Avenue and 17th Street. Police say they believed the car was involved with an armed robbery earlier this month. During the pursuit the officer's cruiser collided with another vehicle at NW 12th Avenue and 29th Street.

The officer and the driver of that vehicle were taken to Ryder Trauma Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses say the officer had his lights on.

Police are continuing to look for the silver Nissan Maxima.
