MIAMI - A man has been arrested after police say he posed as a police officer during what appeared to be a traffic stop.

According to the on-scene investigation, a patrol officer in a marked police car observed a yellow 2012 Scion, with flashing red and blue lights, stop the driver of a car on Southwest 60th Avenue and 8th Street, shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday.

Miami police said the officer's intentions were to backup the supposed police officer making the traffic stop.

To the officer's surprise, police said the man who stopped the civilian driver was not a police officer, but instead a police impersonator.

Ruben Yepes-Quiroz, 31, was arrested at 3:20 a.m. by the officer and was charged with one count of falsely personating officer and one count of prohibited use of certain lights.

Police said the investigation continues at this time.
