Miami police said the officer's intentions were to backup the supposed police officer making the traffic stop.

To the officer's surprise, police said the man who stopped the civilian driver was not a police officer, but instead a police impersonator.

Ruben Yepes-Quiroz, 31, was arrested at 3:20 a.m. by the officer and was charged with one count of falsely personating officer and one count of prohibited use of certain lights.

Police said the investigation continues at this time.
