Police said the person later took the dog to a feed store at 7650 SW 117th Avenue in Kendall and an employee recognized Santa as the missing police K-9.

The employee told Local 10 News that a man told her that he found the dog about 4 a.m. Wednesday near Arvida Middle School and nearly hit her with his car. He came into the store later in the day to buy a new collar and leash for Santa.

Police said Santa is in excellent health.
