Miami police seek 5 in bakery burglary

$500 cash stolen from bakery's cash register, police say

MIAMI – Miami police are searching for five people who they believe burglarized the New Latin American Bakery.

The burglary took place at about 1:41 a.m. on May 18 in the 1100 block of Northwest 22nd Avenue.

Police said the five males were seen prowling around the bakery while it was closed and that once the coast was clear, one of the burglars threw something at a glass door, causing it to shatter.

Once inside, the group began to steal various items, including a cash register that contained about $500, a Bamaster bread press iron valued at $500 and other items, police said.

The group then took off, and were seen on surveillance video with the stolen items.

The first thief in this case is said to be a man 20-25 years old, weighing approximately 170 pounds, standing at approximately 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, with short-length hair, who was last seen wearing a white Puma T-shirt, black basketball shorts, white socks and slippers.

The second thief is 19-25 years old, weighs approximately 130 pounds, is 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and was last seen wearing a gray Hollister hooded sweater, black Nike basketball shorts, white socks and black shoes.

The third thief is about 20-25 years old, weighs approximately 145 pounds, has medium-length hair and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweater, a white undershirt and faded black jeans.

The fourth thief is 20-30 years old, weighs about 200 pounds, has short hair, and was last seen wearing an orange long-sleeve shirt, black basketball shorts, black socks and black basketball shoes. He was carrying a backpack.

The fifth thief is 20-25 years old, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing approximately 135 pounds and was last seen wearing an open gray hooded sweater, a white tank top, long black jeans and black shoes. He was carrying a black backpack.
