Miami-Dade firefighter's GoPro shows dramatic condominium fire

16 adults, 5 children displaced after fire

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A Miami-Dade firefighter's GoPro that was mounted to his helmet captured large flames spewing from a condominium unit in northeast Miami-Dade County on Father's Day.

The fire was reported June 21 by a tenant who noticed thick smoke pouring out of building A at the Ola Condominiums on Northeast Sixth Avenue.

Miami-Dade Fire-Rescue Chief Luis Torres said firefighters rescued several victims, including a pregnant woman.

The intense flames caused the roof on the third floor to collapse.

Nobody was injured, but there was smoke and water damage to the condominium.

Sixteen adults and five children were displaced and received assistance by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but several residents told Local 10 News that they believe it was arson.
