Police said a man shot his stepdaughter and tried to shoot his wife during a domestic dispute at their northwest Miami-Dade County home.
Miami-Dade police were called to the shooting at 15030 S. Biscayne River Drive shortly before noon Thursday.
Police said Bernex Lucas, 49, opened fire at his wife and stepdaughter, missing his wife but wounding his 21-year-old daughter. Local 10 has learned she was shot on her birthday.
She was flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in Miami. Her condition was not immediately known.
Family members said the man's wife filed for divorce Wednesday, which may have prompted the dispute.
Police said Lucas got away in a white 2014 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, which was found Thursday evening in the area of 167th Street and Northwest First Avenue. The vehicle was impounded.
Lucas remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.
