5 suspected Cuban migrants transferred into custody of U.S. Border Patrol

KEY COLONY BEACH, Fla. ā€“ Five suspected Cuban migrants came ashore Tuesday in Key Colony Beach, police confirmed.

Key Colony Police Chief Kris DiGiovanni said Officer Robert Petrick was parked along the Sadowsky Causeway when he saw five men walking north on the causeway.

Petrick believed the men to be Cuban refugees and contacted the U.S. Border Patrol, who took custody of the men.

Petrick later found the migrants' wooden boat washed ashore along West Ocean Drive.
