MJ Acosta

MJ Acosta joined the Local 10 news team in February 2013.

She has a background in sports broadcasting and was the feature report and anchor for a local youth sports network for the past three years.

MJ received a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcasting from Barry University.

Although she is originally from New York City, Miami has been home since she was a freshman at Sunset High School in Kendall.

Her South Florida ties were showcased as she represented the City of Miramar at Miss Florida USA 2011 and placed in the Top 3.

MJ's love of sports and Miami came together as she cheered for the Miami Dolphins.

She is of Dominican descent and enjoys fusing her Hispanic background with the many cultures found in South Florida.

MJ has a passion for philanthropy -- working with several organizations both locally and nationally -- including the Wounded Warrior Project, Best Buddies and Susan G. Komen For The Cure.

When MJ isn't in the newsroom you can find her running a charity 5K race, jumping obstacles at events like the Spartan Race, or exploring her adventurous side by sky diving!
