Deputies say Kendra Hampton spent day drinking at bar, left 3 kids home alone

PALM COAST, Fla. ā€“ A mother of three went to jail after Flagler County deputies said her youngest child choked on a cigarette, while she left them unattended.

Deputies said Kendra Hampton, 39, left her 1-, 2- and 9-year-old at home while she spent Saturday afternoon drinking at a bar.

Deputies said during that time, Hampton's 1-year-old daughter got a hold of an ashtray full of cigarettes and ingested one.

A family member who heard the baby choking successfully removed the cigarette.

The family called 911 once deputies say Hampton returned home intoxicated, aggressive and making statements about hurting herself.

Once law enforcement arrived, they said Hampton became combative and bruised a deputy's finger.

Hampton is charged with felony neglect of a child, domestic violence and resisting arrest.
