MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A Monroe County sheriff's deputy accused of driving under the influence was arrested early Saturday morning by the Florida Highway Patrol, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Jon Doughtry, 23, was arrested after being involved in an accident in the northbound lanes at the Nine Mile marker of the highway, deputies said.

The FHP charged Doughtry with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with damage to property.

Doughtry was booked into jail. Deputies said he was released shortly after noon after attending a first-appearance hearing.

Doughtry, a deputy who works at the Key West Courthouse, was suspended without pay pending a review of the incident.
