Mother still seeking justice for Justin Flowers 1 year after fatal hit-and-run

Driver who killed 15-year-old J.P. Taravella High School student hasn't been found

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Students' voices broke as they spoke or sang, all in loving memory of Justin Flowers.

It's been one year since the 15-year-old was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Fort Lauderdale. The driver in the crash has not been found.

Flowers was a freshman at J.P. Taravella High School in Coral Springs, where a memorial was held outside the school Tuesday.

A plaque with Flowers' photograph on it serves as a reminder about the life lost.

"Enough is enough," Flowers' mother, Diana Romero, said. "I don't know how many years (are) going to pass by. I'm (not) going to give up."

Flowers was struck Feb. 9, 2014, while walking near the 2700 block of West Broward Boulevard about 1 a.m.

The vehicle was described as an older-model, dark Jeep Cherokee.

"I forgive him already, but I want him to (have) justice," Romero said.

The reward has been raised to $8,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
