BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – It's probably a good thing that Miley Cyrus doesn't have a mother like Frances Hena.

The Bakersfield, Calif. mom warned her 11-year-old daughter Jamie to refrain from twerking at a school dance. When Jamie disobeyed those orders, Frances made her daughter apologize in a very public way.

On Monday, Jamie spent 2 hours at an intersection holding a sign reading, "I was disrespecting my parents by twerking at a school dance."

The elder Hena told ABCNews.com that twerking shouldn't be allowed at a school dance, adding, "When she's 18, she can do whatever she wants. As of right now, that's not something she's going to doing.

The popularity of twerking has skyrocketed ever since pop star Miley Cyrus performed the dance on the MTV Video Music Awards in August.
