Protesters of fatal police shooting continue march in Charlotte, Atlanta

Newly released video shows relatives witnessed deadly encounter

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Rifle-toting members of the National Guard and police officers, some who were in riot gear, watched over protesters in Charlotte, the latest city to deal with the death of a black man at the hands of police.

Social media posts showed demonstrators were peaceful as of 11:40 p.m., Friday, in Atlanta and Charlotte -- where there will be a curfew in effect for the second day from midnight until 6 a.m.

The protesters' sentiments were similar to those of protesters of fatal police shootings at Baltimore, Milwaukee, Chicago, New York and Ferguson.

Protests after police shot and killed Keith Lamonth Scott, 43, Sept. 20, escalated to riots earlier this week.

During a protest, 26-year-old protester Justin Carr was shot. He died at the hospital Thursday and police arrested the gunman Friday.

The video the family released on Friday showed Scott's body and the police officers at the scene. It is about 2 minutes and 30 seconds long.

When police approached them, Scott's wife, Rakeyia Scott, pulled out her cell phone and started filming. The video shows she warned police that he had a traumatic brain injury. A child's voice could be heard.

She told her husband to get out of the car, so police wouldn't break the windows. She told police, "You better not shoot him." And she told him, "Keith, Keith, don't you do it!"

Meanwhile, protesters want answers. Police said they recovered a gun at the scene in Charlotte.

In Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Thursday, prosecutors charged a white officer with manslaughter for killing an unarmed black man on a city street last week.
