New aerobatic aquatic sport comes to Miami

Flyboards available in Coconut Grove

MIAMI – South Florida is one of the first spots in the U.S. where you can try a new aerobatic aquatic sport that would make James Bond jealous -- Flyboarding.

"The Flyboard is basically a water jet pack that goes on your feet," said David Duprat of Flyboard305.com. "It's connected to a jet ski and what happens is the jet ski actually re-routes all the water to your feet. So, basically you have full control. You can fly, you can surf the sky and you can swim like a dolphin -- Iron Man style."

If you always wanted to channel your inner Tony Stark and fly like a superhero, Flyboarding may be for you.

For $150, you get a 30-minute session. An hour session costs $250. If you want to buy one, it's about $7,000. The jet ski and Flyboard can all be found at Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove at Pier 9.

Invented by a European jet ski champion last year, it has finally made its debut in Miami.

"I think the youngest customer we ever had was 12 years old, and we had a gentleman that was 60 that came out and tried it and he had an absolute blast," said Duprat.

I just had to give it a try. They told me was told the most important thing about Flyboarding is not how far you can run, but balance.

But I eventually learned what everyone else already knows -- I may be a little unbalanced.
