No bond for man accused of punching girl, forcing her into dumpster

Jesus Crys faces charges of kidnapping, aggravated child abuse

MIAMI ā€“ A 30-year-old man accused of hitting his 9-year-old niece and forcing her to climb into a dumpster is being held without bond.

Jesus Crys was arrested Wednesday on charges of kidnapping, aggravated child abuse and resisting arrest without violence.

Miami Beach police said Crys took the girl outside after an argument, punched her in the face several times and forced her to get into the dumpster, where she was found Wednesday afternoon.

Jesus Crys was denied bond as he faced a Miami-Dade County judge Thursday morning. He is accused of punching his 9-year-old niece and forcing her to climb into a dumpster.

The girl was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center, where she was treated for her injuries.

Police said Crys, who was her legal guardian, could be seen on surveillance video repeatedly punching the girl as she was in the dumpster. A neighbor saw what happened and called 911.

According to the police report, Crys was punishing the girl for lying about her homework, telling her that he "needed a new one of her."

Miami-Dade County Judge Cindy Lederman ruled Thursday that the girl and her brother be placed in a foster home.
