Nova Southeastern issues sexual assault warning

Sexual assaults reported Tuesday morning on, off campus

DAVIE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University sent out a student warning after two female students claimed they were sexually assaulted by two males on and off campus early Tuesday morning.

The email alert was sent by the school at 9:46 a.m.

According to the warning, the women said they had met the men for drinks in Davie. It was there that the women said they believe their drinks were possibly drugged with an unknown substance.

The women claim they were then taken to an off-campus apartment where they were both sexually assaulted.

Following that incident, the women said, they were driven by the two men to NSU's main campus and were sexually assaulted again in their residence hall.

The report said the men were driving a black Nissan 350Z.

"There is an ongoing police investigation regarding the reported sexual assault of two female NSU students, during which time we cannot comment on any specifics," school spokesman Brandon Hensler told Local 10 News in a statement. "Nova Southeastern University takes the safety of its students, faculty, staff and visitors very seriously."

Hensler said the school is "fully cooperating" with Davie police.

"At this time we do not believe that anybody else is at risk," Davie police Capt. Dale Engle said. "We feel that this is an isolated incident with these two victims."

Police are reviewing surveillance video from campus.
