Cathy Hanna conned 79-year-old woman out of $12,000 to pay for suspect's car

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A Fort Lauderdale nursing home employee is accused of exploiting a 79-year-old woman who was a resident.

Cathy Hanna, 42, was arrested on felony charges of exploitation of an elderly person and grand theft from a person 65 or older.

Hanna was the director of admissions at Harbor Beach Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

State investigators said Hanna coerced a resident with dementia to withdraw $12,000 from her account to give to Hanna so she could make her car payment.

Hanna faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
