PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – An website allowing users to see what tax credits they qualify for under the Affordable Health Care Act, commonly called Obamacare, went online this week.
"The marketplace is going to be a new way for individuals who are uninsured in Florida to get insurance," said Dr. Renard Murray of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. "There are about 3.5 million people who are uninsured in Florida."
Murray unveiled healthcare.gov, the official Obamacare website, this week. On the website, users can see if they qualify for tax credits that will help make health insurance more affordable for them when Obamacare begins Oct. 1.
"When the system is fully up and running, it will let you know what plans are available in Florida," said Murray.

Users can shop online for private plans and see if they qualify for Medicaid, which remains a battleground issue in Florida.
Florida Democrats remain upset that House Republicans voted to turn down more than $50 billion in federal money for Medicaid expansion in the state that they say would have benefited 1.1 million of those uninsured.
A delegation of Broward County Democrats sent a letter to Gov. Rick Scott, who said he supports accepting the federal money, to call a special session. He hasn't given any indication whether he will.
