MIAMI - On this date, the great Dust Bowl era was kicked off on this date in 1933 as a dust storm spread from Montana to Maine on the 12th and 13th. Black rain was observed in New York and brown snow was reported in Vermont. Because of the dust, zero visibility was observed in South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa.
