MIAMI - Police have the driver accused of being behind the wheel in a deadly hit-and-run crash in Miami in custody. Police said the driver dragged the victim more than 100 feet before taking off.

Police said the pedestrian was struck by a speeding car and dragged 106 feet at the intersection of NW 61st Street and 12th Avenue.

According to police, they stopped the driver of a black Honda an hour later, a few miles from the scene. They said the car had a smashed windshield, covered in blood, and that the driver wouldn't submit to a sobriety test. A blood test was later taken to check the driver's alcohol level.

The alleged driver was taken into custody late Saturday and has been charged with failing to submit to a sobriety test and tampering with evidence.

Police have not yet released the names of the driver or the victim.
