A man is in critical condition after he was hit by a car early Sunday morning.

The Broward Sheriff's Office says the incident happened just after 1:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Oakland Park Boulevard, just west of State Road 7 in Lauderdale Lakes.

The victim has been identified only as a 28-year-old man from Tamarac. He was taken to Broward Health Medical Center with critical injuries.

Investigators say they are looking for a mid-2000's Scion TC Model that is dark in color, with significant damage to the vehicle's front end, windshield and roof.

Witnesses told detectives the vehicle had been traveling westbound before the crash. It slowed down after hitting the pedestrian, made a right turn on NW 43 Avenue and then headed north into a neighborhood.

If you have any information on this hit and run, call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
