Pedestrian killed in southbound lanes of I-95 in Hallandale Beach

FHP says man struck by SUV while trying to cross I-95

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – A pedestrian was killed in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near the Hallandale Beach Boulevard exit early Thursday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Jonathan Cufari, 32, of Miami, was attempting to cross I-95 when he was struck by a Ford Expedition traveling south about midnight.

Cufari was pronounced dead at the scene.

All southbound lanes were closed to traffic until about 4 a.m. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
