New surveillance video released showing alleged theft

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – New video has been released of a Pembroke Pines police officer accused of stealing a watch as he investigated a crime at a jewelry store.

Nine-year veteran Kevin Burgs was called to a burglary at Jared, 11077 Pines Blvd., on Feb. 5.

Police said crooks broke in through the roof and stole about $75,000 of merchandise.

Surveillance video also caught Burgs as he took a watch valued at nearly $800, police said. He was arrested on a grand theft charge.

Burgs is currently suspended without pay while awaiting trial.
