Goldfish, go forth and prosper.
What was likely four or five abandoned pets have multiplied into the thousands in a Colorado lake, according to wildlife officials.
According to a Newser post, as many as 4,000 goldfish have overrun 12-acre Teller Lake #5 in Boulder.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife explained in a press release that the fish will most likely have to be removed to "maintain the integrity of the lake."
An ABC Denver report said the lake will either be drained or that electrofishing will be used, in which the fished are stunned by an electric current and then removed while paralyzed.
A wildlife manager was quoted in the Newser report, saying goldfish are not a native species and can be harmful to aquatic ecosystems.
