Police: 2 steal more than $10k in jewelry from Miami pawnshop

Police say 2 pretended to be clients, got away with handgun, $12,000 worth of jewelry

MIAMI ā€“ A Miami pawnshop owner is out more than $10,000 in jewelry after police say two robbers pretended to be clients and then demanded money.

It happened Friday afternoon at the Forever Cash pawnshop on Southwest 27th Avenue.

Police said two thieves told the owner they were clients and were buzzed in through the front door.

Investigators said one of the men pointed a handgun and demanded cash from the clerk behind the counter.

When the clerk or store owner said that she didn't have any money, police said they asked her to open the safe and took the jewelry and a handgun. The armed man placed the items in a bag and both fled in an unknown direction.

In total, Miami police said the pair got away with $12,000 worth of jewelry and a handgun.

Police described one of the suspects as a 20- to 30-year-old white Hispanic man who is 6 feet tall, and was last seen wearing a red shirt and armed with a handgun. The other suspect was described as a 20- to 30-year-old Mulatto Hispanic man who is 5 foot 8 inches tall, and was last seen wearing a green shirt.
