Police announce break in Tiffany Sessions murder case

Investigators: Evidence shows Paul Rowles killed Sessions

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Police will hold a news conference Thursday to present evidence against the man they say killed Tiffany Sessions, the Miami woman who disappeared in Gainesville nearly 25 years ago while attending the University of Florida.

Investigators say her murder may finally be solved.

Convicted serial killer Paul Rowles (pictured, below) is the prime suspect. He died of natural causes in state prison last year, where he was serving a life sentence for first degree murder. He was 64.

Patrick Sessions mounted a major effort to find out what happened to his daughter, including a search by nearly 700 volunteers. But her body was never found and no one was ever arrested. But detectives say they have found Rowles' address book with the following notation: #2 2/9/89 #2.

February 9, 1989 is the day Sessions disappeared after she went out jogging. The number 2, investigators say, might indicate she was Rowles' second murder victim.

The body of another woman who was murdered by Rowles was found in 1992 in an area of Gainesville close to Tiffany Sessions' jogging route and investigators are now using heavy equipment in the area, hoping to find her body.

An official announcement is expected on Thursday. Local 10 reporter Janine Stanwood is on her way to Gainesville to report on the latest developments.
