FORT PIERCE, Fla. -

Police arrested a man who shot a female student and then exchanged gunfire with police at a college in Fort Pierce.

The shooting happened at the Indian River State College, located at 4600 Kirby Loop Road, about 4:45 p.m. Thursday.

The shooter was later arrested.

Classes were canceled Thursday evening, say police.
