Police find drugs, gambling, prostitution at Kareta Kafe & Grill during raid

4 arrested, several others detained

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ Kareta Kafe & Grill in southwest Miami-Dade had been under surveillance for quite some time, and on Thursday night Miami-Dade police moved in to arrest multiple people at the restaurant.

Miami-Dade police said Ā small video game machines were being used to disguise an illegal gambling operation at the restaurant.Ā 

Drugs were found in the establishment, police said, along with evidence of prostitution.Ā 

Police had been investigating the establishment for about seven months and were told about the alleged activity through a Crime Stoppers tip.Ā 

Four people were placed under arrest Thursday night on charges of drug possession or drug sales, police said.

About 13 other people were detained.

"I would see, like, weird men going in there, not that great, but that's the only thing that I noticed," Yvette Orosco, who works at a nearby business, told Local 10 News.

Police are searching for the owner of the location, Ramon Bormey, whom state records show also owns Bormey's Latin House.Ā
