Police identify 2 men killed near Washington Park

Delsi Smith, Troy Harris found dead in 5200 block of Flagler Street

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Police identified the two men shot and killed near Washington Park late Tuesday.

When officers arrived to the 5200 block of Flagler Street about 8:16 p.m., they found the bodies of 41-year-old Delsi Smith and 40-year-old Troy Harris. Both men had been shot several times.

"I loved my brother," said Harris' sister, Darlene Clark. "He shouldn't have been shot like that, him and my cousin Delsi."

A description of the gunman -- who was last seen running from the area -- wasn't immediately released.

Chris Harvin said Smith and Harris sometimes sat in the front yard together. He was at work when both men were shot.

"That's when the kids told me, 'Yeah, yeah, we heard the gunshots and he was in the yard,' and the next thing they heard was the daughter screaming and everything," he said.

Family members believe the men were targeted because of a dispute over property between Harris' son and another man. On Saturday, another relative had her home riddled with bullets in a drive-by shooting.

"We don't bother nobody," said Joanna Thompson, Harris's mother-in-law.

Harris left behind three children. Smith left behind two.

"I just want them to find the shooter that shot them down like that and we just want justice," added Clark.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Hollywood Police Department at 954-967-4411 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
