Police identify girl injured in hit, run

Shania Jackson hit; Red car believed to be vehicle involved later found

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Police identified the 12-year-old girl listed in critical condition after she was struck by a car in a hit-and-run crash on Monday afternoon.

Shania Jackson was listed in very critical condition at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital on Tuesday.

The crash happened in the 600 block of Foster Road about 1 p.m. Witnesses said Jackson was crossing the street when a red car hit her.

Several hours after the crash, a red Dodge sedan with front-end damage was found behind a house at 410 NW 5th Avenue. Police haven't said whether it was involved in the crash.

"Came home from work and it was back there," said Emmanuel Kelly.

Some neighbors said cars frequently speed on Foster Road.
