Davie police investigate burglary at Alfie's Gun Range

Police searching for 3 culprits

DAVIE, Fla. – Davie police are investigating an early-morning burglary at a gun shop.

Sgt. Edwin Smith says the glass-break alarm at Alfie's Gun Range was triggered about 2 a.m. Thursday.

When police arrived at the store, they found evidence of forcible entry. They also found several guns out of place and on the floor.

According to officers, the thieves used a stolen van to back into the front door. They then hooked a chain to the door and used the van to pull the door off.

The van, which was stolen from a neighboring business called Tastebuds, was later found abandoned on northbound Interstate 95, near the Interstate 595 exit.

The store's owner arrived before 5 a.m. and was seen sweeping the inside of the store.

Police say they are looking for three men. Investigators are taking a close look at surveillance video from inside and outside the store in hopes of getting a better description of the culprits.

Officers say the thieves grabbed several firearms, but dropped most, if not all of them while fleeing the scene.
