1 in custody, 3 at large after Krome Avenue home invasion

Police say gunmen stormed inside home, fired shots

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – One suspect is in custody after a group of gunmen stormed inside a southwest Miami-Dade County home.

The home invasion occurred about 4:30 a.m. at a home on Krome Avenue.

Miami-Dade police said four armed intruders smashed a window to get inside the home and started firing shots while four residents were sleeping.

One of the residents heard the gunshots and called 911.

Police said the gunmen ordered the residents out of the home and then ransacked the place.

The gunmen fled the scene when police arrived, but officers were able to apprehend one of the men. That suspect was later identified as Yurian Martinez Medina.

Niurka Pino-Morales said the gunmen ordered everyone to their knees, told them to keep their heads down and not to look at their faces.

Family members told Local 10 News they moved to South Florida from Cuba about two years ago and have only lived in the home for less than a month.

Police are still searching for the other gunmen.
