Police investigate several cellphone store burglaries in Broward

Police believe the burglars of stores in Plantation and Pembroke Pines also targeted a store in Davie

PLANTATION, Fla. ā€“ Broward Sheriff's Office deputies were assisting other police departments with catching the group involved in several Wednesday morning burglaries.

Police were looking for a group who hit a stores in Plantation, Pembroke Pines and attempted to steal from another in Davie. They were in a red truck.

Detectives had surveillance video showing four men wearing gloves in the two stores. One of them was wearing gloves with an orange stripe. Three were wearing hooded sweatshirts. One was wearing shorts.

In Plantation, police said they used their truck to break through the front door of an AT&T store, 12231 W. Sunrise Blvd.

Later on Wednesday morning, they used a sledge hammer to smash the glass door of Suncell Corporation, 180 S. University Dr., in Pembroke Pines.Ā 

Surveillance video shows two of the four men jumped over a counter. One opened display cases. And another man entered a back room. The other two grabbed merchandise from the wall and the counters.

After the alarm went off, Pembroke Pines dispatch was notified at 4:13 a.m. An off-duty police officer, who was near the store said he arrived at 4:17 a.m.

Suncell Corporation owner Juan Negron said he estimated the loss at about $3,000.

In Davie, the burglars could not repeat the operation at a T-Mobile store along University Drive. They left tire marks in the parking lot.
