Police: Man recorded himself raping woman

Omar Ventura Blandino Rivera charged with sexual battery against helpless victim, video voyeurism

MIAMI – Police on Wednesday arrested a 33-year-old man accused of recording himself while he raped a woman who was unconscious.

Police charged Omar Ventura Blandino Rivera with sexual battery on a physically helpless victim and video voyeurism.

Blandino Rivera met the woman at a party in Hialeah on Dec. 1, 2012, according to an arrest affidavit. The woman told investigators she drank two glasses of wine and wasn't feeling well.

Her friend told her boyfriend, Blandino Rivera, to drive the woman home, the affidavit said. He stopped at a gas station and bought orange juice, which he insisted the woman drank, she told police.

The woman said she didn't remember what happened after drinking the juice, and woke up naked at Blandino Rivera's home at 7 a.m. the next day, said the affidavit. She said he didn't answer when she asked him why she was there, and that he then dropped her off near her apartment. She said he threatened to report her to immigration services if she told anyone what happened.

The woman told police she believed Blandino Rivera might have put "something in the orange juice that knocked her out," said the affidavit.

According to the affidavit, Blandino Rivera told police he and the woman agreed to have sex and that he stopped at the gas station to buy condoms. He said they had sex three times.

Blandino Rivera told police the second time they had sex, the woman was "sleeping or unconscious" and didn't know he was recording her, said the affidavit. He said she was asleep and drowsy because she was drunk.

The two-minute video, which Blandino Rivera recorded with his cell phone, showed the woman lying in bed, police said. She didn't move or speak in the video. He was then arrested.

Blandino Rivera later showed the video to his girlfriend, who confronted the woman, police said. The woman then reported the incident to police.

Records say Blandino Rivera was in jail on an immigration hold. He was given $45,000 bond.
