Monzon then ran to his car and left the scene, leaving his wife in a large puddle of blood, according to police.

Neighbors called 911 for help. As Miami police and Miami Fire Rescue arrived, calls were simultaneously received of a man who had shot himself just blocks away.

Detectives believe that Monzon fled home in an attempt to kill himself.
