A Key Largo man accused of stealing his girlfriend's jewelry and pawning it was arrested Monday.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office charged 35-year-old Jose Santos with grand theft, four counts of dealing in stolen property and three counts of giving false information to a pawn broker.
Deputies say Santos' girlfriend realized her jewelry was missing on Oct. 18, one day after she had taken it off and placed it in to her nightstand.
She found the missing jewelry at Coral Financial Pawn Shop, deputies say. The owner of the shop told police the jewelry had been pawned by Santos during several different visits to the shop, and that Santos claimed to be the owner of the jewelry.
