MIAMI – A Miami police officer was recovering from cuts Thursday, after a chase related to a store armed robbery on Christmas Eve.
The chase began after reports of an armed robbery at a Family Dollar store, 1220 NW 54 St. A driver fleeing from police crashed into the police officer about two blocks away at the intersection of Northwest 13th Avenue and 53rd Street.

The officer involved in the crash suffered cuts to his hand, police said. Paramedics took him to Jackson Memorial Hospital, and released him in time for Christmas.
The chase continued after the crash. It involved several police officers, police dogs and a helicopter. And after several hours, it resulted in the arrests of a man and a woman accused of being involved in the armed robbery. Police were searching for another man involved.
