Investigators believe Brand, who is homeless, was actively burglarizing homes in the neighborhood using a white Nissan Frontier pickup truck with the company name Mermaid Pools & Spa Service & Repairs.

The company's owner said Brand did not have permission to use the vehicle.

According to an arrest report, one of the victims claimed she was sleeping when she noticed that the lights in her bedroom were on. She said she saw Brand going through one of her dresser drawers and yelled at him in Spanish, "What are you doing here?"

The woman told police that Brand took off with a pillow case full of stolen items.

Detectives want anyone who believes they saw the company vehicle to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
