MIAMI – Family and friends in tears visited a memorial Monday to mourn a 21-year-old who was about to be a father.

On social media, a few of his friends and family shared their sadness. Maurice Alexander Cabrera was killed at daylight Sunday in the streets of Miami's Flagami neighborhood.

He was a Pitbull, Miami Dolphins and Miami Heat fan. He was interested in the Rastafari culture and collecting sneakers. And he and his "homies had some enemies," a friend who did not want to be identified said on social media.

Some of his friends had pictures with "West Side" gang hand signs. And his memorial had mostly candles and stuffed animals that were red and white.

Police were still investigating the fatal shooting Monday. Detectives were looking for the men who fired their weapons about 12:15 p.m. in a residential area west of Blue Lagoon and east of Kinlock Park, 449 NW 47 Ave.

Witnesses told police a car stopped on Northwest Fifth Avenue between Northwest 44th and 45th Street. And at least two men shot several times at Cabrera, who was on a bicycle talking to his girlfriend and her female friend.

Cabrera's girlfriend saw him die at the scene. His memorial had red and white candles and

Cabrera had a juvenile criminal record and was on probation, police said.

He was arrested Nov. 29, 2013 for marijuana possession. He was 19 when he was arrested for stealing a car, running away from police and resisting arrest. He was driving without a valid driver's license, because a year before, he had been charged with reckless driving. After he turned 18, he was arrested June 1, 2011 for battery, criminal mischief of $1,000 or more and burglary.

Detectives were asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-6160.
