NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla -

North Miami Beach police officers say they were forced to shoot a man who approached their vehicle with a weapon.

The shooting happened around 1:26 a.m. Saturday in the 1400 block of N.E. 159th Street.

Police said that they were parked and working undercover when a man came out of a nearby house and approached the officers seated in the car.

Police asked the armed man to surrender, he refused to do so and police were forced to shoot the man twice, authorities said.

The man was taken to Ryder Trauma Center where he is in stable condition.

The investigation remains open at this time.
