Officers apprehend Ronnie Hill during traffic stop

Ronnie Hill is accused of breaking into a car in a Miami Beach parking lot.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A man was arrested Sunday after police caught him burglarizing a car in Miami Beach, according to a police report.

Miami Beach police said Ronnie Hill, 37, was pacing through a city parking lot along Ocean Drive, acting as if he was on his cellphone while looking around for any potential witnesses.

According to the report, after about five minutes, Hill broke the front passenger window of a Chevrolet Sonic with an unknown tool, reached inside and grabbed a purse from the front passenger seat.

Hill then got into a black Hyundai Sonata and began to drive away, police said.

Officers followed the car and attempted a traffic stop on Alton Road.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found the stolen purse and two watches worth more than $15,000 in the front center console, police said. A window punch was also found in Hill's pocket.

Hill faces charges of burglary to an unoccupied vehicle, criminal mischief, petit theft and possession of burglary tools.
