Perry: GOP race could lead to brokered GOP convention

None of the remaining Republican candidates for the White House may get enough votes to win the party's nomination outright, Texas Gov. Rick Perry said following Wednesday's CNN/Arizona Republican Party debate.

Such a scenario could result in a brokered convention when GOP delegates meet in Tampa in August, although the former presidential candidate doesn't see that as a problem.

"I think the Republican primary voters and the American people are just interested in solutions for what face this country," Perry said. "The process of how we get there and the process of how we choose this person is substantially less of concern to the American people."

Perry withdrew from the GOP contest on January 19, immediately throwing his support behind former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

Gingrich himself has talked about soldiering on to the 2012 Republican National Convention despite trailing frontrunners Mitt Romney and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.

Ask if he still wished he was in the race, Perry said: "No, I made the right decision," Perry told reporters. "I'm comfortable I'm at the right place."
