MANALAPAN, Fla. – Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw is mapping out a plan of protection ahead of President Donald Trump's trip to Florida Thursday with Chinese President Xi Jinping, saying that security will be a top priority.
"You will see a significant law enforcement presence," Bradshaw said.
Steel and metal barricades were already in place Wednesday, soaring 10 feet high.
Command posts and security cameras were also set up across from the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa, where China's president will stay during his visit.
It's also the area most of the protestors and greeters are expecting to occupy.
"History has been that the protestors hold up signs and probably don't say nice things, but there is also going to be what the Chinese people call 'greeters,' which will be people that will be there, I guess, waving their country's flag," Bradshaw said.
When it comes to just how many deputies and officers we'll see on the ground, Bradshaw wouldn't give an exact number.
"We are not going to tolerate any civil disobedience, throwing of objects or any other type of disorderly conduct, whatsoever," he said.
Bradshaw said this is the largest security operation he's ever had to run.
"When you have two people like that in the same place, you actually are running two security details along with the Secret Service," Bradshaw said. "Two motorcades, and getting these people to and from where they need to be, and they're going to be at the same place at the same time."
