All clear given after possible grenade found in Tamarac

Nearby school placed on lockdown, businesses evacuated

TAMARAC, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff's Office called in its bomb squad Thursday afternoon after reports of a possible grenade in Tamarac.

The object was found about 12:40 p.m. Thursday in the swale along the 8200 block of Pine Island Road.

Several business were evacuated and Pivot Charter School was placed on lockdown as a precaution.

Parents were asked to pick up their children at the nearby Sawgrass Bowling Alley.

Deputies have since given the all clear and nearby businesses were reopened.
