MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - Police said Tuesday they have identified a "prime suspect" in the shooting of a New York police detective in Miami Beach.
Miami Beach police said an arrest appears to be imminent in the shooting of Detective Harold Thomas, but they are not releasing information about the suspect.
"At this point, the release of his identity, including his photo, will hamper the department's investigation," Miami Beach police said in a news release Tuesday afternoon.
Thomas, a 27-year veteran of the New York Police Department, was shot about 7 a.m. Saturday at a boutique hotel in South Beach. He was taken in critical condition to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he underwent three surgeries.
