Program extended for Pit Bulls through 2012

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – In June of 2011 the Humane Society of Broward County offered FREE spaying or neutering for pit bulls ages 8 weeks to 6 months.  The program initially was supposed to last only a month and was then extended through December of 2011.

As a result, 113 pit bulls were sterilized at the Humane Society of Broward County.  Because of the program's success, and donations from the community that helped cover the costs associated with this, the shelter is going to continue the program through 2012.
