Attorney Richard Sharpstein found dead in his home
Prominent attorney worked on prosecution of Manuel Noriega, Elian Gonzalez case
Members of the South Florida legal community are mourning the death of a legendary lawyer.
Richard Sharpstein was found dead in his Miami Beach condo at 201 Aqua Avenue on Tuesday. He was 63.
Police are treating his death as an apparent suicide.

According to the police report, a maid found Sharpstein's body in the bathtub of his apartment. She also found a yellow note pad with writing outside the bathroom, but police have not said if it was a suicide note.
Sharpstein worked on many famous cases, including the prosecution of Panamanian strongman Manuel Noriega and the drama surrounding Elian Gonzalez's stay in the United States.
Sharpstein had been a Partner at Akerman LLP since April 2009.
The firm released the following statement: "We are shocked and deeply saddened by the death of our partner Richard Sharpstein. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Richard's family during this very difficult time."
The funeral for Sharpstein will be held at Temple Beth Shalom on Sunday, December 15, at 1:30 p.m.
