Public defender dons red nose in court to raise awareness for children in poverty

Attorney Dale Miller says daughter asked him to wear red nose in court Thursday

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A public defender in Broward County made good on his promise to his daughter Thursday by donning a red nose to help raise awareness for children in poverty.

"Council Rudolph, the red nose reindeer," a confused and laughing Judge Jack Tuter addressed attorney Dale Miller in bond court Thursday morning.

"Judge, today is Red Nose Day," Miller responded. "My daughter asked me to wear this in court to raise awareness for children in poverty."

According to the organization's website, Red Nose Day is a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness and funds "for children and young people living in poverty by simply having fun and making people laugh."

To help the cause, Walgreens is selling red noses for $1 with proceeds going to the Red Nose Day Fund. Several other participating companies with products sold at Walgreens, such as Coca Cola, Inc. and Kraft Foods Group are donating a portion of its proceeds to the cause.
