Ramon Gonzalez voices concerns over Miami Police Department's handling of daughter's disappearance

Tanya Gonzalez, 28, found dead inside trunk of car Sept. 16

MIAMI – The father of Tanya Gonzalez, who was found dead inside the trunk of her car last month, delivered strong words against the Miami Police Department in front of Miami-Dade commissioners Tuesday morning.

Ramon Gonzalez voiced his concerns about the way the police department handled his 28-year-old daughter's disappearance, and said he felt his family wasn't heard during the investigation.

He said he was especially disappointed with detectives' response after Tanya Gonzalez's BMW was found.

"We called investigators in charge to let them know what we found, and they were too busy watching a boxing match," said Gonzalez. "We were there an hour and a half waiting for them to come and they never showed up."

Ramon Gonzalez said he called 911 and Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded immediately. He said while he was once a big believer in the system, he no longer feels the same way.

Tanya Gonzalez's ex-boyfriend, Roy Blanco, was a person of interest in the case. Police said he tried to flee South Florida with his mother and dog, but stabbed himself to death when he was located by deputies in the Florida Keys.
