PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. - Miami-Dade officials are beginning a campaign to stop violence against children, as the number of children killed continues to grow.
According to the Miami Herald, 99 children under the age of 18 were homicide victims between 2009 and 2012.
Eighty-one of those deaths were the result of shootings. Of those killed, close to half of them were students of Miami-Dade Public Schools.
Last year along, more than 500 shootings were reported in Miami-Dade.
